Prepare Photos for Display on the Web

Click on (near the bottom left) to get a longer menu at the top. Choose and grab any of the corner handles to straighten the photo (handles shown below). Click once inside the photo to complete the straightening process. This process will leave some white edges around the photo which you'll crop out in the next step.

Choose from the top left, and then click . Click the tab, make sure the drop-down menu is set to , and click the button. Draw a rectangle (from upper left to lower right) around the area of the photo you'd like to keep (you can drag the corner handles to fine-tune the rectangle). Click to crop and then click the tab to get back to the default menus.

If the advanced menu isn't already showing, click on (near the bottom left) to get a longer menu at the top. Now choose .

Circled, center portion of window: Click the drop-down arrow to choose pixels as the unit of measurement. As a general rule, for Web viewing, try to keep the width no more than 580 pixels, and the height no more than 420 pixels.

Circled, lower portion of window: Resolution should be 72 pixels/inch for Web viewing.

As long as the box in front of is checked, your photo's size will change proportionately.

Use the drop-down menu to choose a location you'll remember in the field (see circled area near top of window above).

Choose from the drop-down menu in the SAVE AS field (see circled area in the lower portion of window above).

Take the check mark off in front of (circled, near bottom of window above).

Click the button on the new window that comes up (circled, below). Choose 5 as the quality of the file. (A lower number means a lower image quality and lower file size; a higher number means better image quality and higher file size.) Choose the third , with 3 scans. Click .
